Product Questions 1

Does this seal have a spring in it or does it have to have the spring in it? I have twin engines on boat. When i removed the prop and when i got to the seal one unit had seal with spring and the other unit does not. Just wondering if it came out of the one that didnt have any when i got to it or if it matters.
