Lubricate. Reassemble.

Engine: 1988 Yamaha 6 hp 2-stroke outboard Shopping experience: Customer service was excellent. They kept me informed regarding the status of my order and they answered questions in a timely manner. I bought some parts for an old Yamaha 2-stroke outboard where parts are becoming increasingly hard to find. Crowley Marine's online exploded parts views with part number references and listing made it easy to identify the parts i needed and place my order. My only complaint is the parts were expensive. Repair difficulty: Medium Repair time: More than 4 hours Repair symptoms: steering shafts and controls frozen due to lack of proper maintenance and harsh marine environment (salt water) Difficult complete disassembly of main components (engine controls and steering and tilting shafts). Refurbished aluminum components, and replaced all the grease seals ("O" rings), gaskets, and shaft bushings. Also replaced impeller. Although motor runs fine, the age of the outboard was a factor as it wouldn't be worth spending an excessive amount on repairs.
