I broke the grease fitting on the Bracket 6E5-44118-01-94 and was wondering what the easiest way to replace the grease fitting would be. Could I remove the 2 mounting bolts and loosen the control bushing bolt and spin the bracket around to where the grease fitting would be facing the port side of the engine which wield give me a much better angle to install the new grease fitting.
That should work Trim the engine all the way up and secure it first. Also, loosen (don’t remove) the control bushing bolt. This gives the bracket some rotational freedom without fully disassembling the tilt tube or steering.
