Engine: Yamaha 6hp four stroke Shopping experience: Finding and ordering my part was easy. The very small parts were sent in a box that would have held hundreds. Repair difficulty: Medium Repair time: 30 to 60 mins Repair symptoms: Engine would rev and die with a small shot of ether. Repair was not successful. 15 year old but very low hour 6 hp four stroke. Last year I got it running with a new fuel tank and hose. It sat all year and this year tried again. It ran long enough to get warmed up but then shut off. After that t would only fire with a small shot of ether and then die. I removed and disassembled the carburetor. The low speed jet was stuck. I had to drill it out and remove the threaded part with a screw extractor. After spraying carb cleaner through all the holes and then blowing them out with compressed air I reassembled it with my new part. After installing it and priming the fuel hose it fired and ran a few seconds and shut off. Fuel pump maybe?
