The old engine (1998) is missing so bad that it overheats when I take the boat out. I have tried everything and just replaced an ignition coil (from Crowley) to see if it fixes it but haven’t had a chance to take the boat out.

Engine: 1999 Yamaha S150TXRX Shopping experience: Great Repair difficulty: Medium Repair time: More than 4 hours Repair symptoms: Motor would go into safe mode over 3500 rpms First changed the water pump impeller. Then the more difficult task of taking the heads and water jacket covers off and cleaning the cooling system waterways out there were a few places that were clogged up solid this took quite a while to clean. Taking the Port side water jacket cover off we broke 9 bolts had to use visegrips and heat to get them out. Putting it back together put new thermostats ,thermo switches , thermosensor, spark plugs and new coils. The motor runs great. On a side note I took it to a certified yamaha mechanic he had it for almost three months and never could figure out way it was going into safe mode. I think they just wanted to sell me a new four stroke motor.
