Mercury Marine 81912M Key Genuine OEM product	$4.95~~$9.90~~ In stock Only 1 remaining	Best	OEM Mercury/Mariner half‑moon woodruff key for the water‑pump impeller. Photo shows the typical unmarked, dull tumbled finish and the package indicates Japan—consistent with the Yamaha/Mariner cross for this size (often listed alongside 90280‑03024 and Sierra 18‑3305). A woodruff key is the small half‑moon wedge that locks the impeller hub to the driveshaft; when made to exact spec (about 12 × 5 × 2 mm for this family) it seats flush in the shaft keyway with no wiggle, preventing hub slippage and key shearing. User discussions commonly report tighter fit and fewer installation issues with OEM keys versus aftermarket pieces. Choose this when you want guaranteed fit and long‑term reliability.

Recmar REC90280-03024 KEY WOODRUFF (REC90280-03024) (viewing this product) Aftermarket product	$1.11~~$1.23~~ In stock 5+ in stock	Good	Aftermarket key that cross‑references to OEM 81912M/90280‑03024. The bright silver, machined finish in the photo looks clean, but your observation that it’s slightly thinner than the OEM piece is important: even small undersize in a woodruff key can leave the impeller hub with perceptible play, which increases the chance of hub wear or a sheared key under load. Forum feedback on impeller services often notes these fit‑tolerance issues with some aftermarket keys, while OEM keys fit tighter. If using this part, dry‑fit it first—key should sit flush or just below shaft OD and the impeller should slide on without rocking. Finish color itself is cosmetic; fit and hardness are what matter most—hence a conservative GOOD rating.
